How to toilet train your cats- Singapore

This article is written based on practical experience on how to train cats do their business in toilet and not elsewhere or at any unwanted places.

Step 1

Get two aluminuim cake trays about 8" x 10" and place on each corner of toilet.

The tray costs about S$2.50- $4.00 each. Most Cats like to do business at the corner and so place the trays at the two corners of the toiet.

Step 2

Keep the cats in the toilet for about one week during sleeping time, night time or for most of the days initially to force they do their business in the toilet.

Cats are intelligent animal. They will not do their business anywhere in the toilet. Chances for them to shit or urinate into trays are very great. Even they shit or urinate elsewhere in the toilet , it is all right, because they are doing it in the toilet anyway.

Step 3

Cats prefer to sleep on high ground. So we put something high for them to sleep or rest in the toilet so that they will not be near the tray of shits or urines.

Do not place newspaper or clothes in the toilet. They will cover the shits or urine with newspaper or clothes.

Step 4

If one cat urinates or shit into the tray, the rest of the cats are likely to follow. If they do it outside the tray, transfer the shit or urine into trays and keep it for a while for the cats to be aware and to understand that the trays is for urinate or shit.

Keep them for while in the toilet with the shit or urine for them to smell and to learn, and dream the place for shitting or urine. After a few hours , let them out and flash the shit or urine into the toilet bowl.

Step 5

Ocassional release them out of the toilet to play and eat during the one week confinement period, and observe them how they do their business.

You will notice some cats know how to go their toilet to do their business before the one week period. If the one week period is not sufficient, do it occassional to ensure all cats do their business in the toilet.

Note :
For your information, all my three cats do their business in the toilet 100% percentage for almost 3-4 years. All three cats go to the toilet to do their business. Two shit into the tray but one outside the tray. All urinate into the trays, and occasionately one or two jumps to the basins to urinate.

We have not spent any money on litters. Once they shit or urine, we just flash it into the toilet bowl.
